Policy & Regulation
Policy decides whether a project is viable and regulation decides what it costs. Crawford Partners tracks the rules and the politics that govern a client's exposure, and models the economic and fiscal consequences of a decision before anyone has to defend it in public.
How we work
Policy work usually fails in one of two directions. It is either a news summary that tells a client what happened without telling them what to do about it, or a model that produces a headline number nobody can defend once it is questioned. We are built to avoid both.
Our analysts work from primary sources — statutes, dockets, committee records, budget documents — and our modeling is dynamic rather than static, which means it accounts for how an economy and a public balance sheet actually respond to a change. Advisors drawn from capital markets, public policy, and journalism work the same file, so what we hand a board holds up in a hearing room and in a financing committee at the same time.
Talk to us about your situation
Most of this work starts with a date someone else set — a comment deadline, a markup, a council vote, a financing close. The earlier we see it, the more room there is to change the answer.
